Overview

Throughline ("the App") is a value stream mapping tool that runs entirely on your device. Your process maps, step data, and settings stay on your device — they are never sent to any server. We collect anonymous usage analytics to help us understand which features are useful, as described below.

Your VSM Data

All process maps, step data, and settings you create in Throughline are stored locally on your device using local storage. The contents of your maps are never transmitted to any server, cloud service, or third party. We do not have access to your data.

Analytics

Throughline uses Google Analytics 4 to collect anonymous usage data such as screen views and feature usage (e.g. which export formats are used). This helps us understand which features are useful and where to focus improvement effort.

The analytics events do not include the contents of your maps, your name, email address, or any other personally identifying information. Google's privacy policy applies to the analytics data Google receives.

On the website (throughline.fyi)

This website loads Google Analytics only if you accept cookies via the consent banner. If you decline, no analytics are loaded and no cookies are set.

When accepted, Google Analytics sets the following cookies:

Your cookie preference is stored in your browser's local storage (not a cookie) and can be changed by clearing your browser data.

In the mobile apps

The iOS and Android apps automatically send anonymous analytics events. No cookies are set, since the apps do not run in a browser. The events are limited to screen views and feature usage, as described above. Map contents are never included.

Third-Party Services

The App uses the following third-party services:

• Google Analytics 4 — anonymous usage analytics, loaded only with your consent (see above)

Data Sharing

When you share a map via link, the map data is encoded directly in the URL fragment. It is never sent to any server — the recipient's device decodes it locally. Share links can only be read by someone who has the full link.

Data Export

You may export your data as YAML, CSV, PNG, or PDF files. These exports are generated locally on your device and are not transmitted to any server.

Children's Privacy

Throughline does not knowingly collect any personally identifying information from children under 13. The anonymous analytics described above cannot identify individuals.

Changes to This Policy

If we update this privacy policy, the revised version will be posted on this page with an updated date.
